The legacy of the London games and why Nationalism sucks.

China mobilized over 70,000 volunteers to help with their games - what's London going to do? Get the community service scumbags on the case?

As London becomes the OFFICIAL(TM) Olympic capital this weekend - the gross stupidity, inhumanity and ridiculousness of nationalism is increasingly apparent, and also it seems, more of a taboo to mention than ever

What apart from nationalism accounts for the Chinese militant zealousness of putting on a great show? How without downplaying the real ugly Olympic truth is it ever possible to galvanize such massive volunteering drives and rape of national treasury budgets - take supposedly from the people for the good of the people, yet sadly spent on some massive internationalist orgy of waste based around sports which no-one gives much of a shit about in normal times anyway?

Is it a Love of Sport alone? Don't be ridiculous.

Did recent "British" 'success' at Beijing make your heart swell and sing? Did you feel better about this England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland and... And... Oh yeah... Wales? Is this all it takes? Someone from the same governmental jurisdiction as you being the best in some transient moment in time at cycling, rowing, rounders, quoits or some other equally boring sport?

The Olympics is less about sport it seems, than it is, a global nationalist chest thumping gang-bang using sport as a cloak for its ugly truth lurking deep in its core. It's all about the nationalism.

Who cares that the UK are now for once presiding in gold medals over Australia, well, it would appears the Australian head coach does care when he effectively called the UK a #dirty nation' with some asinine 'soap-dodging' comment.

It's all so stupid, meaningless, and yet expensively rubbish - and as the next four years slip into the past and 2012 clocks around - we should be prepared for more of this congenial stupidity, of thinly veiled nationalist claptrap.

So how does anyone dare propose to subtract the nationalism out of a global sporting clash of the nations such as the Olympics brings? Of course such is not easy; stupidity is a hard thing to fight against at the best of times, but stupidity hiding behind tradition and 'patriotism' even more so.

There's only two forces greater in effect and strength than nationalism. One is globalism and another is individualism. Both can be harnessed to morph the Olympics away from the ugly nationalistic pile of shite it naturally is. Yet of course, that would involve less viewing figures, as it would once again be about the sport people were watching for, rather than their 'nations' chance of winning some cacky medal.

Therefore I'm not going to waste my precious (lol) writing wit and excellence explaining how to take nationalism out of the games - because fundamentally - it would lessen the TV figures. And we don't want to give you that. However, if you're listening Boris and you like the cut of me old jib on this...

Anyway in Short - Fuck the Olympics 2008 and 2012, I'd rather pay less tax and ensure my children can have a decent standard of education rather than a big flimsy stadium built by some politician's mate.

But then that's just me, I love the English people, the English land, and the English sensibility and practicality and weather more than I will ever love "England" the bullshit concept we are sold through media and politically correct boarshite.

ah... East London - may your regeneration be slight and in accord with your peoples wishes. For once. It won't be of course, but, well social engineering is monopoly for politicians and what better cloak than the Olympics? You can't criticise the Olympics can you? It's when the world comes together through the love of the sport  init?
