Doom fossicked through some dim cliché mist, but remained safely undetected by most who wandered the streets, passing through its thick hanging presence as they meandered, ran, stumbled etc. There was this insane craze to the outside that lived lavishly inside everything that roamed the night.  A parade of noises like Floats announced themselves into the air, as if to say: Yes, all is true, but unwell.

Two people that wished to hold hands but didn’t walked briskly through the throng that had spilled out of something – maybe the Siamese clubs just past the sidewalk –  now drenching the cobblestone roads with their filthy over-treated forms. The two people slid through, but with difficulty for they weren’t conventionally graceful people.  But they were very much in love, and very beautiful souls.

Toward the edge of the made-of-humans ocean, one of them falls over – the man. Instantly he is stood on by a number of wet sticky shoes – not intentionally, but with no regard allowed him afterwards. The girl with him bursts into tears and tries to fight them all off. Initially, her rage enabled her to move a few of them, but she was thwarted

-thwarted by a hideous freak of nature.  He had appeared further down the street on a self rising stage accompanied by a gangly man with a huge red and black top hat and an old megaphone. The people began to run towards him (a troop of frothing humans in desperate need to cure their innate curiosity as he announced the arrival of himself and his Freak Show).  The two lovers were trampled underneath the swarming feet of those above. The woman’s beautiful face smashed into that of her man’s. She remembered feeling some weird speck of happiness attempt to spring forth as the rest of her was crushed and suffocated into the caving-in form of her lovers. Soon after that, they died quickly, in a mash of guts.

This thread discusses the Content article: Another extract from 'Song Storming the brain'

mmm'kay - So I'm gonna do a review here - stand back!

The language in this piece is special and highly distinctive, it's got a hint of Robert Burns in it, albeit understandable Robert Burns. It purees tenses and standpoints, reads like a poem in places, and isn't afraid to bring a bit of "WTF?" to the proceedings.

Basically what I'm saying is this is wierd - but in a good way - and I want to read more, though I don't know why yet! More mashed couples perhaps

More please...
